Project

Brother Kepler – new seat tube

A seized seatpost, a hole in the seat tube and two days of swearing: in the end, the customer’s frame received a new seat tube.

Brother Kepler – new seat tube by endless bikes

The story

From the idea to the result.

The corroded seatpost snapped while we were pulling it. Sawing it out failed because the blade was too short and lacked pressure at the tip. During drilling, the large bit caught despite cooling and tore a hole in the seat tube. Not good. We still did not want to give up on the Brother Kepler frame, so we made a new seat tube, replaced the damaged one and rebuilt the bike.

The build

What defines the project.

  • Broken, heavily corroded seatpost
  • Damaged seat tube separated from the frame
  • New seat tube made and welded in
  • Customer’s bicycle fully rebuilt

The result

Far from standard.

Profitable? No. Enjoyable? Yes. Most importantly, the rescued frame keeps riding, and we continue to treat large drill bits with a great deal of respect.
